NIIF investment philosophy is sector-agnostic, concentrating on providing growth capital to companies in sectors such as Agriculture, Clean Energy, Education, Healthcare, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Service Sectors, and Tourism. Focused on creating consumer brands and organizing services in traditionally fragmented sectors, NIIF targets emerging SME leaders, partnering with entrepreneurs to drive transformative agendas. NIIF actively identifies industry trends, pursues opportunities for sectoral consolidation, and plays a key role in mergers & acquisitions, industry integrations, and refinancing. With a commitment to holding minority stakes (5%-49%) in portfolio companies, the fund explores various investment forms including straight equity, performance-linked equity, quasi-equity (venture debt), or convertible debt. Nepal Women Growth Equity Fund (2X Fund)

Nepal Women Growth Equity Fund (2X Fund) aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, to achieve gender equality and empower women in all aspects of society and the economy. Despite progress, Nepali women face under-representation and underfunding in entrepreneurship. The 2X Fund Fund recognizes the pivotal role of women entrepreneurs in economic development and aims to bridge gaps by providing access to capital, networks, and resources. 

The Fund

With an expected total size of NPR 50 Cr, 2X Fund Fund targets investments between NPR 20 Lakhs- 5 Crore in small to mid-cap or MSME/SME’s owned by women. The fund addresses challenges such as scaling up, lack of technical assistance, ESG Professionalization, and shareholder transition. 2X Fund Fund supports businesses in key sectors meeting everyday consumption needs such as Agriculture, Clean Energy, Education, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Service, IT, and Tourism.

Impact of Nepal Women Growth Equity Fund

The 2X Fund Fund aspires to create over 10,000 indirect jobs, with 50% held by women, and one-third of investments outside the Kathmandu valley. Aligned with SDGs, the fund aims to contribute to SDG 3 (Health and Well-being); SDG 4 (Quality Education); SDG 5 (Gender Equality); SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy); SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduce Inequalities), depending on the investments that will be made.
